Jen Spencer, LIMHP, LADC, CCTP, EMDRIA Approved Consultant presents: Treating Suicidality Through the Lens of Complex Trauma (Pre-Recorded, Available All Month Long!)

What do you do when prevention is not enough? As practitioners, we work with clients who have complex trauma; often for clients' suicide becomes a go to coping mechanism. When all else fails the idea of suicide is a way out. I would guess all of us have at one time had a client sitting in our office and when assessed for suicidal ideations the answer is, “Suicide is always an option.” “I always have a plan.” When asked the strength of their intention to follow through with suicide, maybe the level is a 7-9 on a 1 to 10 scale and for them if it gets to a 10 that is when action needs to be taken.

In this training, we will look at suicide as a coping strategy and defense mechanism, the underlying negative beliefs associated with suicidal ideations, and how to work toward healing the core beliefs and trauma leading to the suicidal thoughts and impulses with EMDR Therapy. Additionally, we will touch on how we as practitioners stay regulated in the moment as we assess and work with clients who are consistently having suicidal ideations or behaviors.

This is a pre-recorded presentation, which you will receive access to once you have registered.
